Why organic cotton, and why we kept improving it

Most activewear is made from polyester or nylon, plastic fibres that hold heat and cling when you sweat, and that stay in the environment long after they're worn out. We wanted the opposite: a natural fibre that breathes, feels soft on your skin and still moves with you through a full class.

I'm an environmental engineer. At university I learned how plastics affect the environment and the questions they raise for our health, and it never left me. Polyester and nylon are plastics, and I didn't want them against my skin, or in the footprint I leave behind.

Here's my honest confession: I wear my organic cotton set to hot yoga. I know cotton isn't the ideal fabric for humid heat. It truly shines in regular yoga, Pilates, walks, and workouts. But I go to hot yoga three to five times a week, and I simply don't want to sweat in polyester or nylon. I'd rather feel a natural fibre against my skin.

That's why Jacarandá is committed to natural fibres: for how they feel on us, and for a lighter impact on nature. Our earlier leggings were loved, but you told us they needed more stretch. So for Fall 2026 we rebuilt the fabric from scratch. These are the leggings I wanted from the beginning.

  • New Fall 2026 fabric. 95% Peruvian organic cotton and 5% premium Brazilian spandex, for better stretch, a thicker feel and lasting softness.
  • Three true lengths. 27" Regular (up to 5'6"), 30" Long (5'7" to 5'9") and 33" Tall (5'10" and up).
  • A waistband that doesn't dig in. Wide, soft and rounded high rise, with no V-seam at the front.
  • Pre-shrunk. Machine wash cold or hot.
